It is Saturday morning and the snowflakes are falling again. It is getting close to spring but the large fluffy flakes still have a serene and non threatening appearence. A great time to post another photo on the blog.
This Red-bellied Woodpecker appeared on my deck feeder the other day. They are a larger more colorful bird than the birds that have been around lately so I grabbed the camera and took some shots. I utilized some textures on the image to give it a more unique feel.

Winter photo block
After reading a fine book on wildlife photography this winter, I decided it was time to get out and try some of the techniques I had read about before spring arrived. Winter seems to be so dull, depressing and void of color while spring brings vivid colors and many wildlife subjects waiting to be photographed.
My personal challenge was to go out and come back with a colorful image inspite of the season and lack of sunlight. I forgot how cold the winter winds can actually be but did manage to shoot some bird photos before retreating back to the car. This Red-breasted Woodpecker is one of the shots I got. I hope you enjoy.
