Saturday at the Trempealeau National Wildlife Refuge

My wife and I took an early morning trip to the refuge to check out a few spots and hopefully get some photographs. We were not disappointed. Our first stop at an area on the north side of the refuge had some young beavers feeding, geese and other birds. I got my first photos of a Pileated Woodpecker from a distance and my first shot this year of an Eastern Phoebe. After we moved on to the main refuge area we were greeted by numerous Bald Eagles. I did get some shots of the eagles as well as a colorful Hooded Merganser that flew into my range.
