Stormy night in Winona

On Friday evening, May 31, 2013 Pam and I went up to Garvin Heights to watch the storm activity over Winona from a different perspective. Fortunately the storms that night skirted Winona to the north. The clouds patterns and sun streaks across the Mississippi Valley at Winona were very interesting and beautiful as they selectively highlighted different areas of Winona from time to time.

Because of the lighting variations that were occuring, I quickly decided to use a High Dynamic Range technique to try and capture the majesty of the storms and the serene beauty of Winona below us.

I have posted three of these HDR images for your enjoyment. Each is unique in its lighting and view.

Please click on the images to enlarge them and enjoy the details that were captured in the images. I will have these images posted on Fine Art America in the near future where they will be available for purchase as canvas wraps, prints or framed prints.

The sun streak illuminates Winona State University as a train passes by. In
the distance a barge heads north on the Mississippi River.

Winona's East End. The sun streaks accented several areas of the landscape
such as the Lake Park, St Stan's Church and Watkins.
